It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Phyllis Parsons Schindler. Born June 25, 1946, Phyllis left us on April 19, 2024. Her vibrant life enriched everyone she touched, characterized by her fun-loving, caring, and helpful nature.
Phyllis is survived by her loving family: daughter, Cherie Walker Page (Chris Petiprin); her stepson, David Schindler; her sister, Janet Taylor (Don); and step-grandchildren, Caihla and Colton. She is predeceased by her parents, Earl Ray Parsons and Lois Bodiker Parsons. Her husband, Henry "Hank" Schindler and her sister, Erlene Koogler also preceded her in death.
Born in Lakewood, New Jersey, Phyllis moved with her family from Tipp City in early childhood and was a proud graduate of Tippecanoe High School in 1964. Her professional career in the telephone and radio industry spanned several decades, working for illustrious companies like AT&T (following in her father’s and grand-father’s footsteps), WEAM Radio and Mutual Broadcasting News Bureau in Washington, D.C. and WONE/WTUE Radio in Dayton, Ohio.
She enjoyed her cottage on Artist Island at Indian Lake where she boated, swam and jet skied. She cherished beach vacations with her sisters and thrilled buzzing around Tipp and to football games on her golf cart, Goldie. Her great passion was diving into the history of her ancestors and of Tipp City. As volunteer and trustee for the Tippecanoe Historical Society, she was a research resource for guests to the museum and educated the community on historical markers and events.
Above all, Phyllis took great pride in her accomplishment of being a mother, raising her daughter and managing her own household. Her legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed.
A public graveside service for Phyllis will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, 11:00 AM at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations in Phyllis’ honor to Tippecanoe Historical Society and Museum, PO Box 42, Tipp City, Ohio 45371 or at www.tippcityhistory.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, Tipp City.
